The nesting material we put out is looking the worst for wear. Hope it makes nice, comfy nests.
Quite a good week this week. The garden has been very busy with the blue tits laying eggs, we now have 5, although she doesn’t seem to be incubating much in the day so I am a bit concerned. The hedgehogs have been eating every night and the wood mouse has been quite active. House Martins have returned too.
I went up Pen-y-lan on Friday and saw my first ever Yellowhammer, blimey the song is distinctive, I knew what it was immediately. There we also loads of singing skylarks and some swallows. As I was about to leave 2 Peregrines flew over but I didn’t have enough time to get my camera back out.
That brings the year total to 96, a long way to go but we are back on track now I’m feeling better.
Blimey spring has really taken off!
This week the first Swallows, Willow Warblers, Orange Tip, Ladybird, Speckled Wood, flowering Bluebells!
The blue tit nest has really taken shape now. When will the eggs arrive?
When I was waiting to do my CBT (which I passed!) I saw a Red Kite fly up the river in Newport! Totally unexpected.
