boyfriend on dating website

Busy week with hedgehogs this week. I have been weighing them to make sure they are over the 600g it is suggested they need to be to survive hibernation. We also took delivery of Church the hedgehog from Cardiff Hedgehog Ruscue who needed a release site.

Cardiff Hedgehog Rescue marked her with red nail varnish (true hi-tech tracking) so they can be identified, so I have been weighing and marking them now too. This has lead to quite a surprise! I thought we had 3 hedgehogs, now it appears we have 7! The biggest weighed in at 1028g

Whilst out in the garden I came across a little one, it only weighed 172g, so I rang Cardiff Rescue. He is a 5 week old orphan and we have named him Henry (he will be Henry The Eighth!). We took him down their and Amy showed us what they do, worming, hydrating etc, it was very interesting. She are going to look after him for a while and then we will have him back to look after overwinter.

The hedgehogs make an appearance on the live cams from about 15 mins after dusk until just before sunrise. They nap in our boxes but don’t stay there, hopefully they will overwinter. I suspect they sleep in the wood behind us, I may set up a cam to see if I can find where they come from.

I have been waiting all week to get to Slimbridge hoping the Buff Breasted Sandpiper was still there (and the Dotterel). Luckily …..

We we arrived we headed out to the Dumbles which the wardens had very kindly opened for everyone to get a good view and it was high tide (even better!). It was easy to see where to go. Unfortunately most of the birds were a long way away so the pictures aren’t so good, but there all I’ve got. It was amazing just to see them though.

On the mudflats there were a good mix of waders – Dunlin, Sanderling, Knot, Ruff, Little Stint, Curlew, Curlew Sandpiper and a good flyover Grey Plover. Another bonus were 4 Arctic Terns.

Whilst standing around a black and white blob was spotted floating up on the high tide. It was confirmed as a Manx Shearwater – our first! Don’t think it was very well though, hope he made it.

On the way back we also got great views of Redshank and Green Sandpipers

Strange week this week. The Goldfinch numbers are up but they’re not coming in the Garden, I assume the ones I’ve had over the summer have moved on and the ones flying around are new migrants and haven’t found the food yet. I’ve been trialling some different software (iSpy) for the Live Cams and it seems much better, check out the Live Cams Page. Lots of Hedgehog activity in the garden, 3 at a time and eating loads! There as been a fat Blue Tit hanging around, not sure if it is ok, looks a bit “wet” and lethargic, it lets you get very close, although it’s feeding well.

This is some footage from the Cams overnight

Autumn is definitely in the air. The trees are changing colours, the Robin is singing from the top of the tree, Jackdaw flock are getting bigger and there has been an influx of Goldfinches, yet we still have fledglings appearing in the garden.

Greenfinch Fledglings – Great to have some of these, numbers are really down!
